We would urge anyone visiting either location by car to make use of the car parks, and refrain from parking on the sides of the road. The car park gates are usually locked by 9pm. Please note that the through road at Shearwater is designated as a clearway, and is routinely patrolled with parking enforcement by Wiltshire Council.
We shared with you in February that we were making improvement works at Heaven's Gate and Shearwater to enhance safety and this would include car parking charges to support continued investment in the area.
We have now completed and all the work and installed car parking meters and signage. Payment starts at £1.50 for an hour and charges are now live.
The system operates using number plate recognition and it is card payment only.
Blue badge holders using designated disabled bays will not be charged.
Shearwater Lake is open for coarse fishing, but prebooking is essential. Please find additional information at the below link.
